      What is New World screwworm?

      New World screwworm (Cochliomyia hominivorax) is a parasitic fly known for its larvae (maggots), which burrow into and feed on living tissue of warm-blooded animals. These include livestock, pets, wildlife, occasionally birds, and in some rare cases, humans.
